About India - the Host Country

India is the seventh largest country and the largest democracy in the world. It is one of the fastest rising economies in the world, second perhaps only to China. It has a rich cultural heritage, and is a country of diversities with over 1,000 languages spoken, with each state and region having its own specialties in terms of cuisine and clothing. It has a sub-tropical climate, with the months of February and March being amongst the coolest in the year, with an average temperature of about 24 degrees Celsius. Economically, India is uniquely positioned with a strong agricultural base and a rapidly growing industrial segment. It has the fastest-growing services segment in India across the globe. It also has a thriving paints, inks and coatings industry registering the second-fastest growth rate globally.

About Mumbai - the Host City

Mumbai (formerly known as Bombay) is the commercial capital of India. Situated on the West Coast on India, it is by far by the most sought after business destination in this part of the world. It is also one of the safest cities in India to travel. Though Hindi is the national language and Marathi the local language, it is a cosmopolitan city, with English commonly understood by most. Connectivity to other parts of the world and the country by all modes of transport are readily available. It has excellent intra-city connectivity by rail, road and buses. Fair-price taxis are also conveniently available. Traffic is a bit of a concern when traveling by road, and travelers are well-advised to account for traffic delays. It is also the Paint Capital of Mumbai with most major paint companies, and many smaller ones headquartered in Mumbai. Hotel accommodation, though available at various classes, is rather expensive.
